چکیده

The concept of the ‘Wigner rotation’, familiar from the composition law of (pure) Lorentz transformations, is described in the general setting of Lie group coset spaces and the properties of coset representatives. Examples of Abelian and non-Abelian Wigner rotations are given. The Lorentz group Wigner rotation, occurring in the coset space SL(2, R)/SO(2) SO(2, 1)/SO(2), is shown to be an analytic continuation of a Wigner rotation present in the behaviour of particles with nonzero helicity under spatial rotations, belonging to the coset space SU(2)/U(1) SO(3)/SO(2). The possibility of interpreting these two Wigner rotations as geometric phases is shown in detail. Essential background material on geometric phases, Bargmann invariants and null phase curves, all of which are needed for this purpose, is provided. PACS numbers: 02.20.−a, 03.65.Vf, 42.50.−p

Manifestly Covariant Approach to Bargmann-Wigner Fields (I): Generalized scalar products and Wigner states

Manifestly covariant formalism for Bargmann-Wigner fields is developed. It is shown that there exists some freedom in the choice of the form of the Bargmann-Wigner scalar product: The general product depends implicitly on a family of world-vectors. The standard choice of the product corresponds to timelike and equal vectors which define a “time” direction. The generalized form shows that formul...

Quantum Numbers of Eigenstates of Generalized de Broglie-Bargmann- Wigner Equations for Fermions with Partonic Substructure

Generalized de Broglie-Bargmann-Wigner (BBW) equations are relativistically invariant quantum mechanical many body equations with nontrivial interaction, selfregularization and probability interpretation. Owing to these properties these equations are a suitable means for describing relativistic bound states of fermions. In accordance with de Broglie’s fusion theory and modern assumptions about ...

1 Abstract The Bargmann-Wigner formalism is adapted to spherical surfaces embedded in three to eleven dimensions. This is demonstrated to generate wave equations in spherical space for a variety of antisymmetric tensor fields. Some of these equations are gauge invariant for particular values of parameters characterizing them. For spheres embedded in three, four and five dimensions, this gauge i...

Matching by Local Invariants Matching by Local Invariants

This paper presents a matching method which is based on invariants of the luminance function. This makes matching possible in the case of important geometric transformations between images. The method is robust to occlusion, as local properties of the image signal are used. We propose to use di erential measures invariant to rotations in a multi-scale framework. Promising results are obtained w...

On Invariants of Sets of Points or

We consider the problem of computing invariant functions of the image of a set of points or line segments in < 3 under projection. Such functions are in principle useful for machine vision systems, because they allow diierent images of a given geometric object to be described by an invariant`key'. We show that if a geometric object consists of an arbitrary set of points or line segments in < 3 ...
